Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): are a set of 17 global goals adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The SDGs aim to address some of the world's most pressing economic, social, and environmental challenges, including poverty, hunger, health, education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, life below water, life on land, peace, justice and strong institutions, and partnerships for the goals.
SDGs provide a framework for countries, organizations, and individuals to work together towards achieving a more sustainable and equitable world. They are designed to be universal, applying to all countries regardless of their income level or development status, and to be integrated and interconnected, recognizing that progress in one area can have an impact on progress in others. Many organizations, including governments, businesses, NGOs, and academic institutions, have embraced the SDGs as a guide for their sustainability efforts, and are working towards incorporating the SDGs into their strategies and operations.
